About Katipa

Our products, mainly the onions, are hand picked by women of a village called Ndialakhar, in the region of Saint-Louis north of Senegal.

Also, we operate in a country that is 6 days away by boat and 5 hours by  air from the main European ports and airports and whose climate and availability of water and arable land are favorable to high added value off-season crops

Food Security

Thanks to its experience, commercial success and sustained growth, Katipa Group has about 10 permanent employees and hires more than 100 women. It plans to hire ten times more in the coming years thanks to its clients portfolio via proactive partnership and the inclusive business approach putting people at the heart of its business contributing subsequently to the reduction of poverty.

Research & Development

As part of our development plans, we put the emphasis on research and development based on eco responsible production  always caring for the future generations. In that regard and through our network of experts we look for highly resistant seeds along with composting and applying natural defensive products to our crops. We also search the world for any fruits and vegetables said to be healthy and of benefit to our customers.

Onions are widely part of every single senegalese dish. Considering that Senegal is producing more than 200.000 tonnes of onions yearly but is importing around 140.000 tonnes; therefore it is obvious more onions of better quality are needed. That is why at Katipa we vow to produce and stimulate  production of onions of quality. We are also members of a cooperative called CFAHS because we believe that together we can impulse the reflexion around the strategy to produce better and at different stages using seeds adaptable to all seasons.

Social Responsibility

We are engaged in organic production for most of our products and in reasoned agriculture for the preservation of arable land and because we care for future generations. We also opt for  minimalist mechanization to impact as much as possible on the preservation of our environment and the creation of sustainable jobs in our areas of intervention.
